Experience The Tire Rack...More Than Just Tires.

Hello

Several months ago I was busted for speeding. I do speed at times, but at that particular time I was not going fast - rush hour, dense traffic....Nevertheless, I could not fend off the ticket.

So I did a research and chose Valentine One as the weapon of choice against the revenue collectors in uniforms. However, the detectors are not something you would like to have in a plain view, so a discreet installation was a must. Valentine is making remote display and remote power and sound control. On the following pictures you will see the set up for the V-1 installation in E39 and E34

The detector itself is positioned on the passenger side and attached to the windshield with the provided suction cups. The wiring to the detoctor, that includes the power supply, is routed under the headliner, into the central area where the sunroof motor is, and is tapped into the +12V on ignition power supply. From the supplied power connector, the other wire is routed under the headliner and the A-pilar to the driver's side bottom portion of the windshield, where a remote display is mounted. On the E39, there is another yet wire that is routed under the headliner, past the detector, under the cover of the passenger's side A-pilar, under the glove compartment, into the central console area, where a connection to a remote audio/power unit is made.

There is only one screw on each A-pilar that needs to be unscrewed, pilar trim removed by prying out, the wire routed (BE CAREFUL WITH THE HEAD PROTECTION AIRBAG, MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT OBSTRUCTING THE AIRBAG, SHOULD IT GO OFF). The other work involves cutting two holes in the little plastic cover that covers up the hole where some additional switches go to, like the tire pressure gauge control on M5 and so on. The area behind the cover needs to have one divider cut off by hacking it out with a hack saw - it is made of metal, probably aluminum.
